Mia Brahe-Pedersen, a 17-year-old incoming senior at Lake Oswego High in Oregon representing the United States, won the women's 200-meter gold medal in a wind-legal 23.05 seconds at the North American, Central American and Caribbean Athletic Association (NACAC) Under-23 Championships at the National Stadium in San Jose, Costa Rica. Brahe-Pedersen also anchored the Americans to a meet-record 42.74 in the 4x100-meter relay, joining forces with Georgia's Kaila Jackson, Central Florida's Rayniah Jones and recent Oregon City High graduate Sophia Beckmon, her teammate at Inner City Track Club. The Americans eclipsed the 2016 mark of 42.93 achieved by another U.S. quartet. Brahe-Pedersen became the second female athlete in meet history to win the 100, 200 and 4x100 gold medals in the same year, joining fellow American Cierra White in 2014 in Canada.
